This stunning Joker’s Glow Galaxea coral features a vivid bright purple base, rich neon green tentacles, and striking white tips. Its highly fluorescent tentacle coloration creates a mesmerizing display, making it a captivating centerpiece for any reef aquarium.

Scientific Notes:

• Species:Galaxea sp. (LPS coral; Family: Merulinidae)

• Morphology: Colonies feature long, flowing tentacles with central mouths; polyps expand during the day and night depending on light and flow conditions.

• Skeletal Structure: Hard skeleton composed of aragonite; supports fleshy polyps that form encrusting mats over rock substrates.

• Feeding & Nutrition: Primarily photosynthetic via symbiotic zooxanthellae (Symbiodinium spp.), supplemented with planktonic and particulate foods. Tentacles can capture meaty foods during nocturnal expansion.

• Coloration & Fluorescence: Pigmentation results from a combination of fluorescent proteins and zooxanthellae density; color expression can shift with lighting, water chemistry, and nutrient availability.

• Growth Form: Encrusting base with tentacles extending outward; slow to moderate growth, especially in stable aquaculture conditions.

• Environmental Tolerance: Adapted to moderate to strong water flow, stable salinity (34–36 ppt), and temperatures of 75–82°F. Resistant to minor water fluctuations due to aquaculture propagation.

This Joker’s Glow Galaxea has never been wild-collected. This strain has been part of the coralSLover® aquaculture program, originally obtained as a small frag for our private collection. Over nearly a decade of propagation, it has proven remarkably stable and resilient. By growing it entirely in our controlled systems, we ensure a healthy, acclimated coral while protecting natural reefs from collection stress.
