Joker’s Glow Galaxea – Stable Aquacultured LPS Coral | Neon Green Tentacles | Purple Base | White Tips | Exclusively Aquacultured by coralSLover® (USA)

Classification

  • Coral Type: LPS Coral

  • Scientific Name:Galaxea sp.

  • Family: Merulinidae

  • Category:Collector Coral – Stable Aquacultured Morph

  • Common Names: Joker’s Glow Galaxea, Fluorescent Galaxea Coral

Why Collector Grade:
This morph is classified as Collector Grade due to its exceptional fluorescence, bold contrast, long tentacle extension, and proven long-term stability in aquaculture, making it a rare and refined addition to advanced reef displays.

This stunning Joker’s Glow Galaxea coral features a vivid bright purple base, rich neon green tentacles, and striking white tips. Its highly fluorescent tentacle coloration creates a mesmerizing display, making it a captivating centerpiece for any reef aquarium.

At coralSLover®, all specimens are aquacultured, ensuring stable growth, consistent coloration, and no wild collection at any stage. Our frags are approximately 1" in size, providing a manageable and adaptable piece for hobbyists starting their aquascape. For enthusiasts seeking an immediate impact, full colonies are rarely available and can be special-ordered.

Scientific Notes:

  • Species:Galaxea sp. (LPS coral; Family: Merulinidae)

  • Morphology: Colonies feature long, flowing tentacles with central mouths; polyps expand during the day and night depending on light and flow conditions.

  • Skeletal Structure: Hard skeleton composed of aragonite; supports fleshy polyps that form encrusting mats over rock substrates.

  • Feeding & Nutrition: Primarily photosynthetic via symbiotic zooxanthellae (Symbiodinium spp.), supplemented with planktonic and particulate foods. Tentacles can capture meaty foods during nocturnal expansion.

  • Coloration & Fluorescence: Pigmentation results from a combination of fluorescent proteins and zooxanthellae density; color expression can shift with lighting, water chemistry, and nutrient availability.

  • Growth Form: Encrusting base with tentacles extending outward; slow to moderate growth, especially in stable aquaculture conditions.

  • Environmental Tolerance: Adapted to moderate to strong water flow, stable salinity (34–36 ppt), and temperatures of 75–82°F. Resistant to minor water fluctuations due to aquaculture propagation.

Sizes Available:

  • Frags: ~1” for manageable growth

  • Rare full colonies: For collectors seeking an immediate visual centerpiece

Sustainability & Provenance:
This Joker’s Glow Galaxea has never been wild-collected. This strain has been part of the coralSLover® aquaculture program, originally obtained as a small frag for our private collection. Over nearly a decade of propagation, it has proven remarkably stable and resilient. By growing it entirely in our controlled systems, we ensure a healthy, acclimated coral while protecting natural reefs from collection stress.

Great For

  • Advanced and collector reef keepers

  • Mixed reef aquariums with proper spacing

  • High-contrast, movement-focused aquascapes

  • Aquarists seeking stable, non–wild-collected Galaxea

  • Long-term, sustainable reef systems

LPS Corals – Colorful, Hardy, and Easy to Enjoy

LPS corals, or Large Polyp Stony Corals, are one of the most popular types of corals for reef aquariums. Unlike SPS corals, which have tiny polyps, LPS corals have larger, fleshy polyps that expand and move with the water, giving them a lively, flowing appearance. Their solid calcium skeletons provide structure to your reef, while their soft, colorful polyps bring vibrant color and texture that can transform a tank into a dynamic underwater garden.

LPS corals are beloved by both beginners and experienced hobbyists because they are hardy and relatively easy to care for, yet still offer striking colors and patterns. Many species, like Acan, Blastomussa, Candy Cane, Chalice, Frogspawn, Galaxea, Hammer, Lobo/Brain, and Torch, can thrive under moderate lighting and medium water flow, making them versatile for most reef setups. Their large mouths allow them to feed effectively, and occasional target feeding can encourage faster growth and more intense coloration.

At coralSLover, all our LPS corals are aquacultured, meaning they are sustainably grown in controlled systems to ensure they adapt successfully to home aquariums. This gives your reef a better chance of thriving, with healthy, vibrant corals that are easier to maintain. Whether you’re starting your first reef or adding colorful accents to an established tank, LPS corals are a favorite choice for creating movement, beauty, and life in any marine display.

Care at a Glance – LPS Corals

Lighting: Moderate to moderately high lighting brings out vibrant coloration and supports steady growth. Many LPS prefer indirect or slightly shaded areas to avoid tissue stress.

Flow: Moderate, indirect water movement is ideal. Gentle but consistent flow keeps polyps clean and extended without damaging their fleshy tissue.

Placement: Mid to lower rockwork or sandbed is often best. Allow ample space between colonies, as many LPS have long sweeper tentacles and can sting neighbors.

Water Quality: Stable parameters are key — maintain balanced alkalinity, calcium, and magnesium levels with low to moderate nutrients. Sudden changes can stress fleshy polyps.

Feeding: LPS benefit from targeted or occasional broadcast feeding of meaty or particulate foods to support faster growth and vibrant coloration.

Difficulty: Beginner to intermediate friendly — many LPS are hardy but appreciate consistent conditions and occasional feeding for best results.

Sustainability: Fully aquacultured, zero wild collection — responsibly grown and well adapted to aquarium life.
