Why Zoanthids?
Zoanthids — often affectionately called "Zoas" — are among the most popular soft corals in reef keeping. Known for their vast color variations and eye-catching patterns, they’re perfect for both beginner aquarists and advanced collectors. From easy starter frags to vibrant centerpiece colonies, Zoas offer both beauty and resilience.
Care Level: Easy
Zoanthids are hardy, adaptable, and thrive under a wide range of lighting — from low to high intensity. Whether you’re running LED, T5, or halide systems, they’ll adjust well. New arrivals should be acclimated under lower light levels and gradually moved to brighter areas to avoid shock and bring out the best coloration.
Water Flow: Moderate to High
Good flow helps keep detritus off the polyps, supports healthy growth, and discourages nuisance algae buildup. Zoas benefit from gentle swaying rather than being blasted by direct current.
Feeding (Optional):
While Zoanthids primarily derive energy through photosynthesis via their symbiotic zooxanthellae, they can also absorb dissolved nutrients and may capture microplankton or coral food. Occasional feeding can encourage faster growth and brighter coloration, though it’s not essential.
⚠️ Legal & Policy Compliance Notice:
• All corals are domestically propagated under U.S. Marine Hatchery Permit
• No wild-collected or illegally imported species are sold — ever.📷 Note About Photos:
